• Tice-Reoatj. His Excellency tho Governor will leave for the Marlborough Sounds in the Government steamer Tulanekai this morning, and will presido at tho unveiling of the Captain Cook Memorial, at Ship Cove, tomorrow. The party travelling with the Governor will consist of tho Countess of Liverpool, Mrs. Godley, Hon. F. M. B. Fisher and Mrs. Fisher, Mr, T. Rhodes and Miss Rhodes (of Christchurch), Captain Eastwood (A.D.C.), and Mr. Hamilton (private secretary). Tho Tutanokai will return to Wellington on Wednesday. On Thursday his Excelleucy will proceed to Daunsvirko to attend the A. and P. Show.

The Prime Minister (the Hon. W. F. Massey) is at present in Wellington, but leaves for Marton on Wednesday. Tho Hon. A. L. Ilerdman, tho Hon, W. H. He'iiies, tho Hon. W. Fraser, the Hon. H. D. Bell, K.C., and tho Hon. Dr. Pomare aro all in Wellington. Tho Hon. F. M. B. Fisher is in Blenheim, and will attend the; unveiling of the Cook Memorial at Ship Cove to-morrow, at which ceremony, the Hon. H, D. Bell will also bo present,. Tho Hon. R. H. Rhodes left for Christ church on Saturday night, and will go on to Diincdin to-day. Ho intends to 'proceed ■to Mt. Cook,; via Queenstown. This morning tho Hon. W. H. Hemes leaves for Now Plymouth, and will rethrn.to Wellington on Friday, Dr. Gibb preached at St. John's Prcsby.terian Church yesterday, after _ a fow weeks' absence, during'which time his 'son, Mr. George'H. Constable Doyle, who died from the reflult of iajuries received at Shannon, was buried" yesterday afternoon at Southbridge, Canterbury, where his relatives reside. Mr. Alfred Williams Browett, 38 years of ago, was found dead in tho Windsor boardinghouse, Esfc Street, Invorcargill, early on Saturday. One of tho boarders tried to enter firowett's room for the purpose of chatting with, i him,- when ho discovered that the door was partly blocked./ He summoned tho proprietor, and thov entered the room. Mr. Browett had/fallen on the floor between tho door and the bed, and was quite dead. Deceased was .a South African veteran, and held tho war medal and military medal. Ho was a brother of Mr. Browett, Inspector of Factories in Dunedrn.—Prosa Association.
