OTAKI NOTES.
A good meeting was held here on Thursday evening, when it was unanimously decided to form a branch of the .New Zealand Sports' Protection League. The following offioera were elected:—Patron, Mr. Ben Ling; president, Mr. W. M'Keggj vice-presidents, Messrs. C. L. Hartmann, Peter Taipua, 0., J. D'Ath, J. D. Howell, A. Dempster; committee, Messrs. H. Nicholson, M. H. Ayre, F. H. Bright, J. Bills, and G. Tattersall; secretary, Mr. 0. J. D'Ath.
At a meeting of the Town Board on Thursday afternoon it was decided to iriako application, by way of deputation, to tho Polico Department for tho present ■unsightly section in tho centre of the town for tho purposo of building offices thereon. It wns also decided to give the town a thorough cleansing; have an adjustment of accounts between ,tho Road Board and Town Board; call for applications for tho position of surfaceman; and to join tho Municipal Association.
Exception is being taken here to tho Health Officer's report on tho condition of the creek that passes through Otaki. The report deals exhaustively with various residents, some of whom profess (o bo ablo to completely refute tho statements made by tho Health Officer, A public meeting tj taid to bo Hkeljr,
