Sir J. W. Taverner, Agent-General for Victoria, states that Victoria will probably recoup from KnighFs money the 'oost of the assisted passages which were secured by Knight and his female companion. , London, February 7, Knight left his wife only .£2O. An application to the Victorian Government, dated November 21, for an assisted passage, states that Knight was brought up to farm work until manhood, and that ho was then a clerk until 1912, which ho spent in poultry farming.. The Rev. Mr. Cobbett, Knighfs curate, states that a blank marriage certificate is missing from tho church books. Miss Suifell, a friend of Knight's female companion, states that Knight said ho thought the parish would provide for his wife if he was bolioved to be dead.
