The Mount Lyell disaster Commission reports that the law does not require more than one exit from a metalliferous mine, but anyhow there were passes in the Mount Lyell mine extending in various directions, .to all the levels, by whioh. the men could have been rescued in the ovent'of the wllapse of tho main shaft, or almost any occurronce, except the generation of deadly fumes'.' Regarding the removing of the men the report states that the shift bosses , did everything humanly possibly in tlu3 circumstances. . _ Tho'lessons of the disaster should bo included in,legislation. The Mount Lyell relief fund now totals •CSGI9. ' . •
