A Press Association message from London states that Captain Duigan, of the New Zealand Defence Forces, has qualified to be nominated for the Staff College at Quetta. Captain Duigan sailed for India in December last.i
Dr. B. A. Cameron, who is leaving for England shortly, was last night granted leave of absence, from the City Council meetings. The Mayor (Mr. D.. M'Laren), oh behalf of tho. council, wished Dr. Cameron boil voyage and success in his undertakings. Dr. Cameron, in replying, ■expressed the hope.that ,all the present members of the council would offer themselves for re-election. ! Ho would not bo a candidate at tho next election, but ho proposed to investigate, matters' whilo abroad and hoped to enter, tho field of municipal politics on his return. Mr. W. F. Mr. P. B. Goldie, youngest'^on.-of Mr. David Goldie, died at Auckland on Monday, at the age of 32 years. .The deceased was oducated in Auckland, arid qualified as a chemist. He started,businessori his own account, but owiiig.'to' ill-health' he had,to relinquish,it. He then joined his father in the timber business.' His health was never very good, and he visited Dunedin a few months ago.for health reasons. On Ills' return he resumed,' his position in'the business.
