Morris, Secretary of tho Post and Telegraph Department, to discuss tho question of the alleged grievances which' have lately-been very fully ventilated _in the press,' Members'of tho deputation 1 . represented the younger telegraph operators as Ll wflll as senior men, . and they stated that they knew nothing of -tho grievances wliicu had been eo extensively airediby certain irresponsible individuals; : Regret was expressed.' that publicity; had been given to statements about, the working conditions- of telegraph operators which were inoorrcct and tfissleadinf[. Tho deputation brought under the notice, of the head of the Department certain enev'anew- which they considered; legitimate. As an outcome of the friendly discussion ; which followed, it is considered probablo that a number of requests advanced by tho deputation will be aooeded to.> It. was mado perfectly olcp, however, that • the officers represented by tlio deputation had no sympathy with the statements by individual officers which havo recently been published. •
