.NOTICES'OF MOTION,
"A formidable number of notices of mo.tion aro to be dealt with at to-morrow evening's meeting, of the City Council. The list is as follows:—
By Councillor Cameron: That the Tram- j way Board of, Management be instructed to,furnish a report to the Tramways Com.mittce on the' following proposals, etc.:—. (1) On tho nuniber..of passengers: carried on each city section for the four weeks ended December 8, 1912, giving ii comparison with tho number,carried on tho old section for tho corresponding period of last year. (2) Giving the following alterations in 'tho regular tramway." sections a trial:—For all trams travelling north via Courtonay Place, end of section to he opposite the Royal Oak Hotel. For all trams travelling south, end of section to ba opposite Tarnnaki Street. Regular end of section en all Cuba Street lines to bo opposite the Royal Oak Hotel. John Street end of section to bo shifted to Drummond Street end of section to bo removed to (3) On tho question of • introducing an overlapping ticket system with sections radiating from the General Post Office' and south end of Featherston Street on all lines passing or radiating from these points, thereby replacing the present regular . sections at Cambridge Terrace and Veitch' and Allan's Comer with overlapping* sections fioin the General Post Office and Featherston Street. Ii) Reconsider the present concessions and report on any improvements that can be made.
By Councillor Trcgear: (1) . That the council should tako into consideration tho establishment of a municipal farm as a market garden in some adjacent country district. That this farm should be worked by elderly or necessitous, persons for whom other employment is difficult to obtain, and that this farm should supply or partially supply a Municipal Market for fruit or vegetables. (2) That in view of tho fact that half tho sickness and mortality of children has. its source in contaminated food, tho council tako into serious consideration the question of the control of the milk supply of the city. (3)- That the council tako into consideration tho supply'of public hot water baths (salt and fresh), also tho supply of unitary family laundries,' where clothes can bo. washed and dried by their owners at almost .nbminal cost.? ;
By Councillor M'Kenaie: That the following resolution passed at a meeting of tho council hold on December .12:—"That tho council decline to grant permits to sell aerated and mineral waters on the Lyall BaV beach on account of the danger' from broken bottles" bo rescinded.
By Councillor Tregear: That tho council take into early consideration'tho reform of procedure, in order to produce efficiency in administration.
By "Councillor M'Konzio: That a report 1)0 obtained from Messrs. Richardson and Lauchlnn on tho advisability of introducing a new tariff which would cheapen ihe present cost of electricity and populariso daylight consumption. By Councillor Barber: That the Building By-laws bo amended so as to. provido that in future all verandahs to ■'bo erected within tho brick area bo suspended from tho building, and no vertical supports from tho footpaths bo allowed.
