Works, and tho whole, stall' is being kopt busy to cope with the'ru?h of stock. A petition is, in circulation, in Masterton, iasking the Borough Council to take a poll on ; the, question of substituting Saturday for ' Thursday" as tho weekly half-holiday.' It is anticipated . that a sufficient naimber of signatures-will be obtained to determine'that a poll shall be taken. ' • \ . . ' Mr. W. H. P. Hodgkins, who lias been manager of tho local branch of the Dank of New ,Sjbuth i AVales' for ,tho past year> or two, has received notice of his, transfer to Tamworth, in-New-South Wales. During his stay here, Mr. Hodgkins'lias mado himself exceedingly popular, with all .sections of the community, and his departure will bo very .much regretted. Ho is to be succeeded by Mr. Mountfort.
