Tp'-niorroiv evening his Excellency/will be present at (he meeting to bo held in the Town Hall'in celebration of,the union of the Methodist Churches of New Zealand, On Monday, next the Earl and Countess of Liverpool will lcavo for Queen Charlotte and Pelorus Sounds, and ,at noon tho following:day the Governor will formally unveil tho memorial to Captain Cook at Ship Cove. After luncheon tho Tutahckni will convey the Vice-Regal party to Picton, whore a reception, will ho held. On Wednesday (February 12) tho Governor rind party will proceed on to.Blcnlieim, and after a reception-there the' Governor will,preside at the opening of a foto. At the conclusion of the ceremony the Vice-TU'gal party will return to, Picton, and leavo. immediately for Wellington by tho Tutanekai. ■: -■ .('■■''•.. His Excellency is to open the A; and P. All the Cabinet Ministers .will' bo > in town to-day except the Hon. W. H. Horwos and tho Hon. F. M; 8.-Fisher. Mr. Fisher, according to a Press Association message from Roofton,- arrived' there.yesterday, and was to-give a political address last night. Mr. Herries leaves today for Feilding. . In the evening ho will be at Palmerston North,.where he will receive deputations to-morrow forenoon. At mid-day he will leave for Foxton, where ho will inspect.,tho wharf which has recently been tie I subject of negotiation between the Railway Department and the Foxton Harbour Board. On Friday Mr. Herries will, inspect, the Sandon tramway in connection with the snggested junction; with the main lino at eithor Grcatford or Marton. Mr. Herries will return to Wellington on ' Friday night.
Mr. C. H. Howarth', the Wanganui Harbour Board's engineer, left Wnngamii yesterday for Wellington en route to Europe and America. Ho will bo away several months, during which time he will study harbour problems in various ports of the world, with a view to applying the lessons learned to his work in Wanganui.
'•■ Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Butler, of Bristol, England, wore arrivals by ,tho Winunera nt Auckland on Sunday, on a visit to the Dominion, and left for tho Hot Lakes district by tho Rotorua train on Monday morning.
