' A' full agreement has been arrived at this, afternoon between the Hnntly "Engine-drivers' Union and the directors of the Taupiri conl mines. The conference was presided over, at the request of both parties, by tho Conciliation Commissioner. (Mr. -T. Harje Giles); The main points agreed to were a 48 ho"urs' week'and all-round increase in wages, but important provisions were inserted relating 10 unionists and to strikes. Tho clauses regarding tho latter make stringent provisions to prevent strikes or lock-outs, the union agreeing that it will riot as a union recognise, take part in, or assist, in any strike 'without., tho consent of three-iourths of the members by a secret ballot, and,nt least six weeks' notico must, be given to employers.'." ••
