CRICKET, CLERGYMEN AGAINST DOCTORS. ON THE BASIN. ' AN INTERESTING MATCH. Unusual cricket elevens, but very interesting ones, took, the field at the Basin K-cserve yesterday, when a team representing the medical profession in Wellington took the field ugauiat a composito team of clergymen. The advantage prima facio seemed to be liitli the "medicoes," a number of whom ploy cricket fairly regularly, ;but in tho ultimate they were put uown by the "chinch militant" by no less a margin than five wickets. Some of the ciergy (though once athletes of note in. their colleges) showed a form which the "man in the. 6trcet" might not have been inclined to suspect, 'lne Kev. Mr. liartlett, of Wadeslown, is, of course, fairly well-known as a first-rate wicket-keeper, but others were well to the front. Archdeacon Harper proved very smart in the field, and,.though lie has not had a bat in his hand lor twenty years, he gave a lively exhibition while at the crease, as also did. tho Kev. Jllr. Compton. Tho bowling of tho llcv. Mr. -Bawden Harris also attracted attention, and one or two of the beateii- side 'described some of bis deliveries as "unplayable." Dr. Pigeon captained tho doctors, and tho Kev. Mr. Bnrtlett the clergymen;; It is understood that an endeavour will bo made to mako this fixture an annual one. ■ Following are tho scores;— Rev.
