FINANCES BEING MADE SOUND, REVENUE INCREASING. An interesting statement of tramway and power supply revenue nnd expenditure for tho four weeks ended January 5, 1913, was presented to the Tramway Conimittoo of tho City Council yesterday by tho chairman of the Tramways Board. Mr. W. H. Morton. It contains several very welcome items of information. Tho rovenuo for the four weeks exceeds that for tho corresponding weeks of last year by .£1427, and tho working expenses wero 49 lower. For tho -10 weeks from April 1,1912, to January 5, 1913, there is 1 a credit fnlnnco on tho working of the tramways of ,£1797, an increase of .42710 over the credit balance forthe snm'o period of last ; financial- yenr; Tho-, freight service account also, shows a credit' balance for- the four-weekly, period nnder review of 414 lCs. 10d., and for the period of 40 weeks there is a debit balance of 413S ,18s. lid. The only cirenmstanco to account for the-change is .that' the Tramway Board has made certain alterations in the method of running the freight service.. .■'■''.-.
