Many police and soldiers have been as-, eembled, for the trial of; twenty of the motor, bandits, who Btand charged with--33 murders and crimes. The trial is expected to'last eighteen days.'. There' are 301 witnesses.;' .. ■~' After an examination which' has lasted nine inonthk M. Gilbert, Juge d'ln-: struotioni in September last committed for trial 22 of tho prisonors brought ; before him:charged with taking part in, or being, privy to, the criminal acts of tho gang of motor, bandits! who terrorised Paris earlier in the year. It will bo remembered that ths gang was particularly .'active from the,end of February onwards. ■ The murder of - tho police agent Garnier on February 27 was quickly followed by ah attempted robbery at the house of M. Tintauti a lawyer of Fontoise, and on March 25 took placo the attack on the bank at Chantilly, when two employees were killed after tho seizure of a motor-car and the murder, of the driver'near, Montgeron. Other crimes followed.. Then took place the siege at Choisy-le-Roi on April 28 (| when Bonnot and Dubois, two of the principals, were killed. On May M two other members of the gang, Garnier and Vallet, were run to earth at Nogent-sur-Marne, and after a memorable night siege were both killed. The list of crimes with which tho prisoners* aro charged (snys "the Times") is a formidable one. There are no fewer than 28 separate counts, ■ including eight murders or attempts to murder, and 18 thefts. Seven persons, not including four bandits, have already lost their lives, while at least 12 have been more or less seriously wounded.',
