Constable Michaol Groen, Inspector. of Weights and Measures, for several years in Wellington, died at the Wellington Hospital yesterday, after an illness of about ten days," oaueed by on internaltrouble. It is understood that he was to have been operated upon, but ou examinaiion was found to bo too poorly for tho ordeal. Constable Green, who was formerly a member of tho polico forco at Dunodin and Invorcargill, had been Inspector of Weights and Measures in Wellington for about thirteen years, and was a well-known figure about town. Ho was a native of' Ireland, and had been connected with the Now Zealand police foroo for over thirty years. Tho deceased, who was 57 years of ago, was, as far as is known here, a 6inglo man.
