Ho finds the 17milo train journey to Trehtham, mostly through poor barren country, less tedious than tlio 4-milo run to Ellcrslic,' through tho Domain plantations,' though busy Newmarket and past smiling villas with neat gardens right up to tho gato of the course. Punter's" other comparisons aro just as ridiculous as thoso regarding the train journey. Few peoplo will cavil at tho Auckland rule excluding. infante of tender years'from tho grandstand en-' closure.
