DANNEVIRKE DEPUTATIONS. , (By Telegraph.—Prees Association.) • Dannevirke, January 31. Th« Hon, W. H. Berries arrived at Danuovirko last night, and was depu'tati<jnised concerning local matters, particularly with regard to tho Tiratu Native block, which tho Government was urged to acquire in tho interests of tho town, Tho Minister promised that tho Crown would purchase the land if tho Natives were willing to sail at Government vahinI tion. Ho was not in favour of compelling : the Notives to sell land lieforo it was individualised, as they would not havo had on'opportunity'of working thoir places. Regarding n dangerous raihrav crossing, tlio Minister said tho whole question, of railway crossings was' being considered by I the Department.' H« had received reports on all dangerous placos, with a view to devising some echcmo to Tender them less I dangerous.
