Considerable interest is being taken in the Ly-elention for tho Londonderry seat in tho House of Commons, a vacancy for which has been caused by tho resignation of Lord Hamilton, who,has succeeded his fathor (the Dako of Aborcoxn), and therefore takes his seat in tho House of Lord's.

The Duclicss of Abcrcorn has actively canvassed tho constituency. Thoi polling includes all the lame, halt, and blind obtainable, and some voters from America.

London, January 31. A Nationalist victory is forecasted al Derry. .

Aftot a stremuous morning 75 per cent, of the voters had polled at'noon, and) a -fierce contest then began, to 'gather in the remainder.

Many remarkable incidents were recorded. A man who was evading a warrant returned risking arrest and voted. Bedridden men were' carried to tlie booths, and one Unionist died before he had recorded his vote.

Several sick Nationalists, accompanied by priests prepared to administer tho last rites, )vere carried to the poll.

Riot Act proclamations were read on three days as a precaution against a riot. Two hundred troops and fivo hundred constabulary are being held in readiness.
