Another sub-committee is en-, trusted with the task of arranging, for a fireworks display in the l\irk on one evening, and the samo committee will organise- conemts and entevtainments m the evening, among which will beau openajr picture show. The Mayor, is also, asking aU picture, theatres to gi\-e a benefit night in their theatres., . , A"o definite decisions hive been arrived -at yet for tho expenditure of the' pro--reods. ; The Mavor stated yesterday that the intention was that, the funds.raised should bo handed over,to the council to be expended by its Ee;crves Committee,, .with the advice of representative freal, tho Carnival Coniiuiltee. ■ . ■. . .„ A meeting of the Sports Committee (Section G) of tho Citizens' Easter Carnival Committee was held on Wednesday night, Mr. A. Marryat presiding. _ Messrs. Broad and Darnells, a deputation representing the University Sports Tournament Committee, waited upon the committee in reference to tho University championship tournament, to lje held at Easter time. Tho deputation, suggested co-operation between the body they represented and the Carnival, Committee. . It was agreed, on the motion of Mr:; Hill, that the .chairman be asked to arrange with tho Citizens' Carnival Executive for a'davlight meeting ott Easter Monday, at Newtown Park,: to 1m run in'conjunctiqn with ■ the. New' Zealand University Championship Tournament. Committee, ' provided that satisfactory arrangements can be made with the latter body as to the-payment of certain expensss. • • The chairman, with Messrs.. Hill and Shields, were appointed a sub-committee to approach the local .swimming: authorities, and seek their assistance in the'organisation of a swimming carnival, on'a. day ■ apart Irom that appointed for the main carnival. The sub-coriimitteo will, confer. With tho 'Wellington Swimming Centre at its meeting to-night, and discuss details.of the proposal., , - -'• Another sub-committee set up consisted of.Messrs. J. Doyle, H. M'Keowen, and D. Leslie.
