Sir,—ln the far' North Auckland, at Paparoa/ the. Albertland special settlers held a most enthusiastic.meeting on,the .occasion of the jubilee of the settlement. Nearly 1000 settlers were present. The reception given to tho Prime Minister must have been most gratifying. The fdllowing resolution of welcome was carried unanimously, with hearty cheering; and I.ask you to publish same as showing the'Strortg, -feeling in favour of freehold tenure of land in the far! north>-I am, etc.,,' ; ALBERTLANDER. ,

Massey : reads as follows:— "We, the residents of Paparoa, and visiting pioneers,, and settlers from 'a wide area, gathered at this jubilee celebration, /desire to extend to you a cordial welcome to. this district, and to assuro you of our high appreciation "of your personal character, of your, work in Paviiamont,]and of your unselfish efforts ,for your, country's good. Wo: recognise that you have won the confidence of the. majority .of the people of' New Zealand, and wo sincerely congratulate you oh the-attainment of your high and responsible position as Prime Minister of. this Dominion. ' As survivors and descendants of a party of emigrants .who. crossed the. ocean inspired by the , desire 'for the possession; oi tho freehold in a new land, wo, recognise and respect your consistent stand for freehold principles.-' Further; 'while the -.present Government continues to act onthesamo sound and democratic lines already indicated, it may rely .'-upon, the continued support of the settlers of these, districts."
