FIRES.
(By Telegraph —Press Association.) '■ Auckland, January 2S. A six-roomed house in Grey "Lynn; owned by Mr.'.Nairn and occupied by Mrs. Thomns, was destroyed by lire last night. The furniture, which was also destroyed, was uninsured. •■ Carterton, January 28. , A firo at tho Carrington settlement last night at 9.U0 o'clock destroyed a • house owned and occupied by G. E. Allen. Mr. Allen* and his wifo escaped only in their night attire. Nothing was saved.
