ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE.
BRITISH ASSOCIATION'S VISIT. ■ At a meeting at Melbourne of the Federal Council appointed to make arrangements for the .visit in August next year of a large number of members of the British Association for the Advancement of Science, it was stated that tho High Commissioner had been officially informed that (lie Commonwealth's grant of ,£15,0(10 was intended to cover tho passages of no fewer than 159 official representatives, including selected Dominion and foreign scientists, and that the Government would offer facilities for specialists to prolong tlieir visit. It decided to nslt the British Associations to name 25 members of tho official party to extend their vi=it to.New Zealand, the Government of the Dominion to con tribute JMO towards the expenses of each member. An effort is to be made to organise a party to visit Tasmania. The rmestion of issuing an invitation to visit the Northern Territory was referred to the executive committee.
