The usual fortnightly committee meeting of the Society for the Provestion of Cruelty to Animals was held last-evening at Mr, J. D. Avery's office. The, chair was oceupied'by the president (Mr. R. H,: Webb): ■" The society's inspector (Mr. Seed)presented his report. Ono or two cases wore, he stated, handed over to the solicitor. The most important"was a case of alleged luisuso of a. horse unfit for work. A ccrlil cato from Mr. W. C. Quinnoll, M.R.V.S., veterinary surgeon, stating that, ho had seen and condemned the horse- was prcsanted. Mr. Seed referred to the treatment of poultry during- transhipment recently. It was decided that the inspector should place the matter boforo the agents for the vessel. ; Mrs. Christie moved, and Mr. Watson seconded, that Mr. W. C. Quinnoll- bo nsked to give a popular lecture on firstaid to animals, at Newtown, the society to guarantee Is.'This was carried.
