Paris correspondent states that Leonardo da Vinci's famous picture, "La Gioconda," reported to have been stolen from, i;he Louvre in 1911, has never loft the Louvre. The ■picture was damaged by spilling acid over it, and the story of its theft was promulgated to save officials.
