ARRANGEMENTS FOR; EASTER.
- Tho Exeoutive Committee of the Citisscnß* Easter Carnival niet last night. Tho Mayor (My. D, M'Larcn) presided, The pommittoo fixed the dates for tha carnival for Easter Saturday and Easter. Monday. • ■ ■ Their ' Excellencies Lord and Lady Liverpool are to be asked to patronise tho function/and they will be invited to attend on both days. Invitations will bo sent'to Ministers of .the. Crown and Supreme Court judgos. Subscriptions to date total closo pn ,£2OO, and promises for. other amounts jifivo uecn received, \ . . It w<i3 reported that tho supcoss of tho carnival was assured.
Tho Sports Committee nro trying to arrango a swimming carnival at, T«t , Aio Baths for tho Wednesday or the Saturday following Easter. The Mayor stated that ho htul asked tha city picture proprietories to give benefit performances. ' t A Visitors' Committee was formed, and tho Mayor is to ask tho Trades and' Labour Council, tho Chftml>er of Commerce, ftiid tho Industrial Association to co-operate with the comniitteo in showing visitors over tho industrial works of tho city during carnival week. A fireworks display may bo arranged for oho oveiling, at Newtown I'nrk, and the , co-operation of tho Boy. Scouts is-being sought.. ' ' ■' '
