REPORT BY THE HIGH COMMISSIONER. - Tho High Commissioner, writing from London under date November 16, in reference 'to the -small,shipment of New Zealand eggs mado per the Turakina by Messrs. Roilly, Scott, and Gill, of Dunedin, says: - . .

•Tho parcel consisted of fivo quartercases; each containing three long-hun-dreds. T'ha "wood ■of the cases is still thought to bo rather thick, but on tho whole the present shipment is a great improvement .'on tho last. The packing, also, "is better, although there is-yet sonic improvement'to be made. .Cardboard fillers have been used on this and these have enabled tho eggs to arrive in a much better dondition than llid last year's parcel, .put of a total of 1800 eggs, only 180 were broken, but the broken onos were the causo of another 209 bad eggs. Owing to the long timo taken on tho. voyage, the moisture which is sucked Up by the cardboard through the damaged package affects the surrounding eggs. No preparation whatever had'been used on ,tlie shells, and, taking all things into consideration, "Messrs. Lane, who are handling tho eggs, consider it is a great success to be able to land New Zealand eggs in London in the sound condition in which tho shipment came to hand. .As-regards quality, the eggs are very rich, well selected, and of good size and colour, and all these points nro : taken 'Careful; note of,by London buyers. The ngenti-boiled some, and state that they cooked splendidly—nearly as well as English new-laid.
