ONE CAR UPSET: THE OTHER RUNS THROUGH A FENCE.

A . serious motor-car accident' ocourrod on tho Hutt Road, about a mile on the city sido of Trentham, at about half-past eleven on Saturday, morning.

Two cars were concerned in, tho mishap. Ono car was owned by Mr. M. H. Robertson, tho licenseo of the -Commercial Hotel, arid driven by Mr. Brio Wallace. Tho other .car belonged to Messrs. Collins and Kerr, and was driven by Mr, Joseph Foster. ' ' Mr. Foster was driving Messrs. Hugh John Duff, of Hawke's Bay, Gerald Stead, of Chrlstchurch,- and Michael Murphy, of Wanganui, to the Trentham Racecourse. Tho car driven by Mr. Wallace was conveying Messrs. Richard Middleton Brewer, of M Oriental Bay, 11. W, Brown, of Oriental Bay, Higgins, of tho Etnpiro Bicyclo Company, and Carter, of , the Telephone Exchange, who, also, were on their way to tho Trentham Racecourse!

Tho car driven by Mr, Wallace was ahead, and the other car had just passed it whon the latter < skidded.. The result was that Mr. Wallace's car ran into tho other vehicle, upset it, and threw tho occupants out. • ■ ;• t : v - .
