SUFFERED FROM INSOMNIA.
YOUNG WOMAN'S DEATH. Miss Lilian M'llveen, a book-keeper at tho Grand Hotel, died yesterday morning, Miss M'llveen had been suffering li cm hcadaohes and insomnia for somo t'mc, and on Wednesday last Mr. John Doveridge, tho license of the hotel, sent her of duty to recuperate. She then went to bed, but did not improve, and on Friday her sistor, Mrs. Charles Dyke, of 5 Pvinco Street, went to look after nor and Dr, Ewart was called in. Dr. Ewart stated that Miss M'Hvcen was Buffering from an ovordos© of ve.-onal, probably taken accidentally, Sho had been in tho habit of taking tho •iruß to jnduco sleep. Ou Saturday morning tsh« seemed to bo gottin* better. On Saturday night eho craved for veronal o< could not sleep, and shortly bet'oro 5 ?\ i j 011 morning sho asked Mrs, Xjyke to go out of tho room, a$ sho thought sho would thou bo ablo to go to sleep. ?IT B, J}$ q * n t° tho pngsaeo, and Miss M Ilveen got up and turned' r-ff tho eloctno light. Ajiout a rninuto later Mrs. JJyko heard her sister coughing and gurgling. She re-entered tho room and found a glass which smelt strongly of lvsol and, an empty- lysol bottle" Dr. liwart was again called and arrived' , promptly, biit Miss M'llveen passed away shortly before, 10 o'clock that lUOlning. ! _ Dr. Ewart stated that ho is of opinion Miss M Ilveen took tho lysol but I hat sho may not have known what sho was doing. . lhe deceased was about 34 years cf aire and she had been employed m the office of tho Grand Hotel for about threo rtwa. She was a. daughter of Mr. John M'Jlvcen, ft produco merchant, of Ccmmorco Street, Auckland. ' 1
