SWIMMING.
SWIFTS CARNIVAL TO-DAY. ' Heavy entries have been received for the Swifts Club carnival, which is to take place at the To Aro Baths this afternoon. Included on the programme is the 100 yards provincial ah event which .is regarded locally as quite the race of/the year. • By .way of an innovation the club is .putting on a 75 raids ; handicap, in which competitors (there are about 50) will finish in r the ■middle of the baths. ' Another .evSnt which, should prove of' more than orcli--nary interest is a teams' relay race,-there being .no fewer than fourteen teams competing. The novelty events havo no 1, been overlooked and it is stated that_ there will be feoriie very original "turns." Proceedings will commence at 2.30 p.m.
