CARTERTON NOTES.
Messrs. H. Banish, Martinborongh, and W. J. O'Meara, Carterton, have returned from their motor, trip to Lake Taupo and Rntorua. They had two days' fishing l at Hamarana, catching a largo number of "spotted beauties." They stato that tho fishing at Hamarana. is improving very much, this possibly being owing to tho price paid per head for shags. Tho gold and silver medals, for tho Inst show of tho Wnirarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society's Show liavo been received by the secretary, and aro being forwarded to the championship .winners. Loonl Territorials and 'Senior Cadet companies had a field day at Belvcdoro on Thursday, when an interesting and instructive time was spent. Outpost work, trench digging, and elomentary principles of attack and defonce formed the work.
In tho' Magistrate's Court on Thursday two youths named Michael Martin and Clarence.Hoy Barnby wero clinrced under tho Defence . Act with absenting themselves from parado. Eaeli was finod 10s., and costs 7s. /
On Thursday, Messrs. .T. S. Laurenean and H. Hart wero granted land agents' licenses, under tho new Act.
