TRAMWAY MANAGEMENT.
Sir,—The citizens of Wellington are truly a long-suffering-people! They pay for seats in their trains, and a large proportion have to be "strap-hangers," besides putting up with a service whioh is urn on anything but business lines. 'An experience of mine on Sunday last may bo useful to other members of the community. In tho latest time-table issued by the'tramway authority it is stated that a tram leaves Newtown for the Post Office, at 7.10 a.m. on-Sundays. Accordingly I was at tho Island Bay Junction at 7.9 a.m. on Sunday last, expecting to catch said car for the Post Office, but to my surprise no car arrived. I subsequently walked to tho tramway shed, and found that a car does not now-leave Nowtown for tho Post Office at 7.10 a.m. Consequently I was considerably delayed in reaching tho wharf, to tho. groat annoyance of the friends I was expecting to meet, as well as to myself. Tho tramway authority notifies tho' public that advertising pays, but apparently it would not pay the tramway authority to advortiso any changes they mako in their timetables! It is no wonder that tho tramway system of Wellington, even with the increased fares, scarcely pays expenses! This kind of thing, with numerous other petty annoyances caused tho public, must havo the e'ffect of keeping back the traffic returns. It is high timo that considerable changes wero mado in the manacement.—l am, etc., ■ agemen ' , A SUBSCRIBER. Wellington, January 23.
