A"statement of reoeiptsond expenditure for tho quarter ended-December 31 last, appears in the Gazette, published last night. In the summary hereunder tho figures in parentheses in every caso. are those for the corresponding quarter of last year. .. . ( ■ • The quarter opened with a balance in tho consolidated fund at the beginning of October of .6939,077 ss. 10d. (£920,239 3s. Bd.). The ordinary revenue was ,£3,131,448 19s. ,Bd. (£2,952,378 135.), the t Territorial revenue £48,067 6s. Bd. (£47,752 65.), making. with recoveries on account of expenditure of previous years £150 (.£10,787 9s. 5d.), and. the balance in hand, a total of £1,118,743 Bs. 2d.. (=£3,944,313 55., lid.). Following are the Collections under the various heads of ordinary revenue;— Customs, .£864,973 12s. lid. (£792,666 12s. 8d.); Stamps, .'.£221,135.65. 3d. 4s. 8d.); Postal and Telegraph: revenue, £293,409 18s.' fid. (£311,263 12s. 9d.); Land Tax, £048,266.'125. lid. (.£614,277 12s. 6d.); Income Tax, £4456 lis. Bd. (£4281 lis. sd); Beer Duty, £35,732 18s. 2d. (£33.589 12s. 8d.); Railways, .£973,267 6s.' Bd. (£911,796 as. • 2d.);: Registration and other fees, £18,698 4s. lid. l (£17,423 16s. lOd.); Marine, £13,055 16s. 7d. (£11,889 7s. lid.); Miscellaneous,' £60,452 2s. Id. (£53,798 .12s. 10d.). ■ , 'The Consolidated Fund was swelled during the December quarter of 1911 by the amount; of £13,175 13s. lOd. "Amount at credit of Deposit . Account, Imperial l Government, South Africa contingents, transferred to Consolidated Fund."' '.On the expenditure 6ide permanent appropriations amounted to £1,179,906 17s. lOd; (£1,314,417 19s. Id.); annual appropriations, '£1,770,451 19s. lid. (£1,615,921 10s. 3d.); revenue transferred to Publio Works Fund, £225,000 (£250,000); balance at end of quarter £943,384 ss. sd.
