Dr. C. .Ernest Pionger, F.R.C.S., of Litohdon, Harrogate, is at present touring the North Island with Mrs. Pronger and Miss Perigrine. The party afterwards visjt several places in the south, and then make tho return trip to England by tho R.M.S. Corinthio, sailing on February 20. On Thursday night Mr. R, Ctmliffo was elected president, of the Petoiiß Workine Men's Club. Mr. Darling was elected vice-president. , "

Mr. P. M. Stewart, an English; visitor, who oomes here annually for the fishing season, has purchased a houso at Rotorua, and has reocntly landed a motor-car for use in tho Dominion. Mr! Stewart, who is acoompanied on tho present trip by Mr. Woodhead, left on Thursday night for tho West Coast Road and Mount Cook. .
Mr. F. M'Queston, of Boston, U.S.A., is staying at tho Royal Oak Hotel with Mrs. M'Queston and Miss .M'Queston. On Monday tho party leavo by motor-car for tho Hot Lakes, and subsequently return to Wellington before i proceeding on a southern tour, taking in tho Bullor Gorge, Otira Gorge, and Cold Lakes. After visiting Australia they take passage by the Osterloy for England. , Mr. C. W. T. F. Russell, general manager of tho Union Bank of Australia, was a visitor to Auokland at tho beginning of this week. Mr, Russell, whoso headquarters are at Melbouino, has come to Now Zealand on a holiday, visit. He will visit tho south before lus return to Australia.

Owing to continued ill-health, tho Korean- and treasurer of the Southland Agriultural and Pastoral Association (Mr. H. i 1 Cuthbertson) tendered hia resignation it yesterday's meeting of directors. Ho mentioned that lie had occupied tho tuition. for almost thirty years. Tho party also toured through England, Scotland, and Europo, visiting Brussels, Paris, Southern Germany, Yenico, Florence, and Rome.

M'ltellar, one of those faithful laymen who signed the Constitution of this Church in 1865. At tho Anglican General Synod, which! is sitting at Nelson, the following resolution was carried yesterday s—"That this Synod desires to place on record its high appreciation of the Bervices rendered to the Church by tho Right Rev. F. Wallis, D.D., particularly in connection with the Board of Theological Studies, which has benefited largely by his enthusiasm and life scholarships, and, further, that tho Synod extends to Bishop Wallis heartfelt sympathy with him in his continued illness, and prays that he may be restored to strength as will onablo - him to resume liis work."
