FEILDING NEWS.
Peilding .observed a close holiday yesterday. There, were cricket matches, and the Friendly Societies' and Baptists picnics were also held in town. Sports were held at Kimbolton, and! three rinks of Fcilding boilers paid the annual visit to the Wanganui Club. ' ■ , ■ ■Mr. Prank Wilkinson, late of Dunedin, has been appointed bandmaster •of the Peilding Brass Band.. Messrs. E. Browne, and P. Lethbridge have forwarded their report on, the Feilding A. and P. Association's school garden competition. '■ The surprise is tho high' Sosition attained by. the small 'schools at .uahine'and Mount View (near-Marton), where there is only ono teacher. Following are the . results:—Flowers: Mt.. View, 9} points; Foxton, 9 points; Buahine, 8J points; Eangiwahia, 8 points. Gardens: Foxton, 195 marks; Ruahino, 192 marks; Mt. View, 182 marks.
