London, January 22. The "Manchester Guardian" states that until India and the self-governing colonies, who aro parties to -tho' contract, have jointly agreed to waive their rights, the. Marconi Company cannot bo released from its contract with the Post Office.
' Mr. AV. E. Lawson, a journalist, dealing with financial matters in his evidence before' the Marconi contract committee, said: that instead of- purchasing the Marconi, patent at a fair price,; the' Government, by an agreement, had placed the Post Office in the hand 9of patent exploiters, and had struck a deathblow to British progress in regard.to long-distance wireless telegraphy, The Mr. Lawson added, were carried on '■ by tho Secretary of the Post Office, and not a single . independent authority was •• consulted. - . ':■.
