The Rev. Dr. Alexander Gosmnn died in Melbourne on January 10, aged Hi. For two weeks he had been suffering from bronchial pneumonia. Dr. Gosman enmo to Australia in 18G0, and had charge of the Congregational Churches nt IJalinrat, St. Kilda, and latterly at Hawthorne. For 3G years ho was principal of' tlio Theological College, Melbourne, and, in 1005 he celebrated his jubilee ns minister. At tho last meeting of tho Congregational Union of New South Wales, on' the motion of the Eev. Principal Thatcher seconded by the Rev. William Allen, it was decided to send to the Eev. Dr. Gosman ( an acknowledgment of his services as 'principal of tho Viotorian Congregational College, on his retirement, after fifty years' occupancy of tho position. Until Principal Thatcher nnd Mr. Allen were students of the college, nnd spoke highly of Dr. Oosman's work. Industrial matters interested Dr. Gosman, nnd he was for seven years president of the AntiSweating League. Dr. Gosman leaves a widow, four daughters, and Iwo sons.
