BUTT TOMATO CROPS.

. • DEPARTMENTAL EXPERIMENTS BEGIN. The Orchards and Gardens Division of the Department of Agriculture has just made a start with the co-operation experiments with the Hutt touinto growers with a view to trying to discover a remedy for the blight which has-overtaken many of the crops in the district this season. The Department has taken over a tomato house at the Hutt and also parts of three plots of outdoor-grown tomatoes. In one case a plot has still to be planted. Spraying demonstrations will bo given whilst the Department is supervising the general work. If tho weather is fine today, Mr. Boucher will go out to the Hutt to get operations started •iu the tomato house. Mr. Boucher is hopeful that as a result of the.experiments matters will be placed on a sound basis.
