Mention has'been made recently of the Missions Board of the Methodist Church, which, from its headquarters in Sydney, controls the' activities of the Church in the foreign field, and of the position in ■relation to. it of the Now Zealand Church, which, has now no legal tie to the Australian Church. "The 'president of the latter Church (Dr. H. Youngman explained to; nil Auckland' "Herald' reporter that the New Zealand body will continue its contributions to the- general fund until some - portion of the field is snecially allotted to it. It may be given some representation on the Missions Board. A scheme was recently projected by tho Victorian Conference, under which each contributing conference should be giiven representation. on tho board, and • the broad, general principle that distant delegates Bhould attend not nil the meetings, but two or three special meetings, with a view to quickening and maintaining a lively interest in tho work. This proposal would be considered ,by the next general conference of the Australian Church, which will bo held in Brisbane in May. An allied question that would be discussed was tho difficult one of determining the extent to which powers of sclf-spverninent should be entrusted to missions in: the foreign field.
