HARBOUR AFFAIRS.

MEETING OF THE BOARD,

The monthly meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board was held last night. There were present: Messrs. R. Fletcher (chairman),- M. Cohen, C. E. Daniell,' J. G. Harkhcfs, J. G. Cohen, J. W. M'Ewen, J. E. ; Fitzgerald, A. 11. Hindmarsh, J. Trevor, W. ITildreth, and C. W. Jones. I.eavo of absence was granted to Messrs. V. G. Frceth, A.. M'Furlane, and It. C. Renner. The bank pass book showed a credit balance to current account of .£20,825; imprest account,'.£2W; and on fixed deposit, iISO.OOO. The payments for the month were as follow:—hor interest, sinking fund, accounts, and wages,.-£31,835;. progress payments on contracts, .£1903; salaries for January, .£797. Payments for £37,001' were approved. The engineer reported, in reply to a question from Mr. J. G. Harkncss. that a portion .of Z store would, be available in about two months from now.

■ The chairman reported that the tender of Mr. Henry Mainland for asphalting the floors of 7, store, Waterloo Quay, for tlio sum .of £739 325., with Messrs. P. R. Baillie and JI. S. Martin as sureties, had been accepted.—The report was adopted. ' ] Monday. March 3. 1913. was fixed as the date for the public drawing'at the Board's officirof twenty debentures for redemption on August 28, 1913. The following by-law was. approved :— "Ice delivered to fishing vessels for the prcwrvation of fish for local consumption shall hi exempt from wharfare." It w.as explained bv the chairman that for thpurpose of the by-law "local consumption" would be taken to mean-consumption in Ivew. Zealand.
