This was carried., ' Tho Bishop asked the Synod to' ondorso the following proposals of the.Bench of Bishops": _ (a)' That ' a series of services .in Maori and English should bo held at. the Marsden' cross site, where the first Christian seryice was held,_ during Christmas week) 1914; (b) that a" Church congress for all; New, Zealand'bo, held at Auckland in February, 1915; (c) that, a great thanksgiving centenary fund be raised throughout New Zealand, and every' Church member bo v asked to contribute a sum to it composed of . a'coin for every year of life that God has given' them; (d) that 1 an:.advisory committee be' set up for, this purpose. , It, was decided that the proposed Church cojigress be • held 'at Auckland. ' The Bishop of' Auckland detailed tho proposals' that had been amended by the Bench of Bishops for tho disposal of tho. thanksgiving Qon"tenary fund—(l) enlargement of St. John's College,- Auckland, (2) foundation of a- Taranaki Bishopric, (3) formation .of a general bishopHc'fund, (4) medioal missionary travelling scholarship, (5) establishment of a'series of travelling scholarships, ono for each'diocese, which wouldenable tho worthiest divinity, students to visit Europo ;and America t for further theological study, (G) W. raise a fund to advance tho Biblc-in-school'. movement. Tho whole of Clause C of tho Bishop's proposals was subsequently referred back to'the Bench of Bishops.lt. was 'resolved that ah: Advisory Committee, consisting of .the Bishop' and two representatives to be selected by representatives of several dioceses, bo sot'up-for tho above purposes. -".'' ■
