Tho Early Settlers' and Historical Association of Wellington insert an open invitation in this issue to\all early settlers and their descendants to attend a reunion at Newtown Park on Anniversary Day, January 22. The gathering is to take the form of an all-day picnic, with nn 1840 sports programme in the afternoon. A great number of pioneers who have made their home in tho country districts have Bonified their intention of coming to Wellington to attend tho reunion, - Tho new kiosk will be open, and ;hot water will also bo available for all who prefer "billy tea" and lunch under the trees. The death occurred in a private hospital in Now York on December 4 of Mr. Archibald Gracie, one of the survivors of the Titanic disaster. His death was indirectly due to shock caused by Ms terrible experiences. Mr. Grade, who was a colonel in the United States Army, was the last man to bo saved from Ine sinking i liner, with which he was mjtked down,
