Thero was a-' large and representative, gathering of. citizens .in tho Auckland Town Hall Concert Chamber on Wednesday night,-tho-occasion -being, a ..public farewell to tho Rev. Father Ho brook, administrator of St. rntrickVCathedral, who is leaving on a visit to tlio UIU Countrv. Mr. P. J. Ncrheny presided, and amongst those • present wore Dr. Cloary, Roman Catholic Bishop., of Ancleland, the Mayor (Mr. C.-J. Parr), and Mr A. M. Myers, M.P. During tho evening a number of eulogistic references wero made to the excellent wort dono in Auckland bv rather Holbrook. Or, behalf of tlio>a'ri6us confraternities .with -which Father Holbrook was associated, tho chairman presented-.him with a lengthy address, setting forth his good work in the Auckland district. Accompanying tho address was■ a- ■ pursa containing 200 guineas. Tlio recipient, suitably responded, and thanked thoso who had "assisted him in his work in tlio Auckland-diocese. ,
