Another stage has boon reached in.the litigation between tho Union Steam Ship .Company of New Zealand and tho Mes-Bageries-Maritimes with -regard to tho Taviuni-'Nera collision in Sydney Harbour on October 2, ,1911. The Taviuni was sunk with hor cargo of 'copra, and tho Nera considerably damaged. Tho Union Company claimed '.£BO,OOO damages, ,and the Messageries Maritimea countor-claimed for several thousands. Mr. Justice Street found that the Nera was solely to blame. The Mos-Bagcrles-Jtaritimes appealed to tho Fall Court, and the latter reversed Mr. Justice Street's judgment. The .Union Company have* now applie'd for leave to appeal to the Privy Cpuncil, and tho respondents have agreed thereto.
