At the Magistrate's ' Court yesterday morning, before Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., Henrich Ranieshaw was sentonced-to' It days' imprisonment on a'charge of deserting the steamor Clan Alpin, on December 30. Rameshaw was arrested as ho was about v to sign on, 'tho Manuka recently. .'-..- CHARGES OF THEFT, Hugo Seewald wa3 brought up for' sentence on charges of theft, on which he had pleaded guilty on Tuesday last. , Tho stolen property consisted of two bicycles, two overcoats, and an umbrella, of, a total .value of .£2O. Accused is a native of (lermany, and has been in Wellington for about ty years. His Worship' sentenced accused to two'months' imprisonment on ono charge, and one month on each of the other/charges, the sentences •to-run concurrently. Taking into consideration the fact that accused was a married man, with ■ three children, his Worship. 6aAd , 'that he would impose a lighter; sentence than usual.
