Ho understood, Canterbury was sending' some. sixty-representatives. ; Mr. Shields opined that itwould be a . disgrace to the centro if they only sent i two men. He .was prepared'.to give £2 • ■ 2s/-towards the expenses of'-a polo team, t Mr. Wilton said'that Wellington should . keep up its good namo by sending what would at least bo a representative team. In answer to a question by Mr. Wil- f, ton the secretary said that the cost of sending nino men to Wanganui would : bo - about'.£l7.' ; - ' The motion Was then put to the.meeting r and carried. .. Mr. Blick was appointed. Next'arose tho.ouestion of selectors for ' tho nolo team! , Four, names were pro- , posed, viz,,' Messrs! Healy, Sadd, Smith, ®- and Somerville. As jonly three were Tequired it-ballot, which involved consid- S erablo trouble, was taken, and Messrs. £ Healy, Somerville, and Sadd were-elected •; to the noaition. i The chairman said that the next busiliess was tho election of delegates fo the „ conference of swimmers to bo held at Wat n»anui during the forthcoming champion- " ships. Three! names were proposed.'viz., f , Messrs. Blick' (secretary), Atkins (chair- f man), and T. Shields. As two were only necessary another ballot took place, and Messrs. Atkins and Shields were { , olected. • 11 Some speakers were indulging'in per- s< sonal remarks when Mr. Wilton moved that the meeting go into committee. The motion was seconded by Mr. Mor- ■ path and carried.
