The fortnightly meeting of. the committee of tho S.P.C.A. was held at.Mr; J. D. Avery's office last 'evening, Mr. R." H. Webb presiding. After a regarding the holding of-o conference of the :vafious societies in-the Dominion, and after dealing-- wme correspondence froci 'the Other societies referring to'the same topic, the chairman moved: "That this' committee .is.of '.the opinion that a conference be held- this year." The motion was carried, and' a sub-com-mittee,; consisting of. Mes'dames ■ .Christie, Chittenden','' Seville, Wakeliri, 'and ' tho. president, was appointed to look'into this matter and report to tho General Committee. .'■.-" - Inspector Seed presented -his repbrt,' ; and one case of alleged cruelty to'a',cow'was handed over .to the solicitor. ~ Receipt of the following donations to> -the society's funds"was acknowledged:— E.
