Mr. Herbert Honry La Thaugue, A.U.A., was elected a Royal Academician at a general assembly of Academicians and Associations on November 27. Mr. La Thanguo was one of tho young artists who founded the New English Art Club.. His first work exhibited was in 1877, and ho was elected nn Associate of tho lloyal Academy in 1898. Ho is best known for his vigorous painting of figures in tho open air. "A Sussex Cider Tress," "Tho Plough Boy" (in the Aberdeen Gallery), "The Last Furrow" (Oldham Gallery), "Tho Man with tho Scythe" (Chantrey Collection—Tato Gallery), and "Dpconiber in Proveaoo" are typical pictures,
