i Mr'.'J. Dl Howell (chairman or the Otafcl Hood-Board) and Warden HiMreth met the ratepayers of North Manakau at the Waikawa over the,. North Manakau road, on Friday evening, in connection with-the vexed question, of the use of the Waikawa Bridge, which was recently examined-by'a ■■Gorermnent engineer, and reported to be unsafe for traffic. -A goodly number of settlers mustered and the Eoad Board represent*, lives explained the position.. The settlers placed their side of the .question before the morabers, and considerable discussion followed. One or two showed a rather Lllicose attit.de for -a-time, bn eventually the setters accepted the explanation. In all probability a deputation of settlers will wait on the Road Board at it. next meeting in connection with the bridge and other matters. • nr„«t™. • Tho death has occurred of Master Bruce Nicholson, late of Manakau aged X\vt sixteen years.
