TROUBLE ON REGULAS.
..." DEADLOCK,STILL..PREVAILS. It is a case of "as you were" concerning tho trouble with firemen.on tho Westport Coal Company's steamer Rcgulus, and the vessel still remains tied up at Clydo Quay wharf.. •.'..,, _, When spoken to concerning the trouble yesterday, tho secretary of the Seamen's Union said that ho had, had on unofficial discussion on the position with Captain Lobb, Marino Superintendent l for. tho Westport Coal' Company, who had stated that his company could not put two trimmers into tho vessel, because she was not paying now. Mr. Young <?aid that ho had suggested putting four firemen in the vcssol at .£ll a month each—that would get'over tho difficulty, and give two firemen on duty in six-hour watches. It appears that a greaser is carried on tho Regulus who attends to tho engines dnrin" the chief engineer's watch. Mr. Young contends that if he were put into the stokehold as a fireman and the.chief engineer were to do his own greasing, the difficulty'would be .settled. . Mr' Q. Joachim, managing director of the AYcstport Conl Company, is expected to arrive at Wellington to-day, and nothin" will be done in tho matter until tho "whole'question - has been discussed with him. , ______
