MERINO EXHIBITS.
"FAKING" AT A DISCOUNT. , In view of the controversy on tho "faking" of show sheep, the following conditions laid down . for* the merino 6heep exhibits at tho Eoyal Show will bo of interest:— , ■,
A. No Merino sheep shall be eligible for competition which has jit any time:— .1. Been housed or artificially fed in any way, except for a period of four days immediately preceding the date of exhibition..
i 2. Been depastured on land sown with lucerne. (This regulation does not apply to exhibits of sheep' dropped prior to Jlarch 1, 1912, and which have been under a provious regulation, while, under tho ago of-six months, depastured on lucerne). 3. Been rugged or Kept in any paddock with open eheds accessible to sheep. - •1. Been oiled or dressed with any foreign matter, ordinary dipping for parasites excepted. . 5. Been gono over with the shears or other instruments, except for crutching, clearing the eyes, or dags. 6. Been kept as a pet. 7. Not been fairly- shorn, i.e., no wool to bo left moro than one-third of an inch in length. ' , ' 8., Has not complied with any regulation to be mado by the society for inspection after shearing. B. No merino steep shall be. eligible for competition which lias during the period of one year. immediately preceding the date of exhibition:—
