A remarkably flue portrait of Sir G. M. O'Rorko, one of the most picturesque figures in the public life of the Dominion, is just being finished by Mr. C. P. Goldie, who has been singularly successful in transferring to canvas the features of tho original (says the Auckland "Star"). The picture, which is being publicly subscribed for, is to be presented to Sir Maurice, and will bo hung in the Tooma of the Aucqland University College, an institution with which his name has been connected since its inception. Sir Maurice O'Eorke framed the Act under which the college was founded, saw it through' Parliament, and has been -chairman of the council ever since. The picturo measures 42in. by 53in., and shows' Sir Maurico O'Rorko. in his graduate's gown, seated at a table with a book in his hand. ! The portrait is to be publicly presented to Sir Maurice, probably during the visit to Auckland of tho members of the Univoreity Senate. . -The finder of a leather wallet,containing important papers will bo rewarded on returning samo to Mr. G.
